With the Christmas season just around the corner, people across Europe are getting into the festive spirit. In fact, searches for ‘Christmas markets 2023’ have increased by +8,950% in recent months.1
But where can one find Europe’s most beautiful Christmas Markets? To find out, online travel agent loveholidays has compiled a list of the most Instagrammed Christmas Markets in Europe.2
Taking the crown is Manchester Christmas Market, located in the North West of England. The hashtag ‘#manchesterchristmasmarket’ has racked up 59,788 Instagram posts. This year marks Manchester’s 25th annual Christmas market and will be running until December 21st hosting 225 stalls across nine sites.
Edinburgh follows closely behind in second place, with 51,376 Instagram posts for the hashtag ‘#edinburghchristmasmarket’. Edinburgh’s market is one of the very few running into the New Year, open until January 6th. Whether you’re looking to take part in alfresco ice-skating or endulge in festive delights, there are ample photo opportunities at Edinburgh’s market.

While Strasbourg in France ranks third (31,202) and dubbed “The city of dreams”, Vienna ranks fourth, with 18,988 Instagram posts of #viennachristmasmarket. Germany also gets big kudos, as four German locations make it into the top 15 Christmas markets in Europe: Frankfurt (seventh), Berlin (11th), Munich (12th) and Cologne (15th).h).
